I was walking along Orchard Road yesterday, waiting for my friend to arrive, when I decided that I should go find myself a wallet (with a mid-range price, around $200 max). This was because my current "wallet" was actually the Industrial Dipped Card and Key Pouch by Jack Spade. Not exactly a good choice for storing cards and cash at the same time. I first went to check out HE by Mango as Isetan Scotts, where i also wanted to see if the rainbow colour wristcuffs were actually for sale. Sadly, they were not, as I only saw 2 leather wristcuffs there. Saw a wallet that was croc-embossed on the outside, for $45. I felt that it was a good price to pay for a wallet that I could probably toss around :P. (I still dare not toss around my darling Bottega Veneta wallet.) However, after the SA went to the storeroom to get a new piece, I had second thoughts and started regretting it. Fortunately, the SA came back, saying that the manager had the key to the storeroom and thus could not get me a new piece. Phew. Close shave. By then, I had narrowed down my choices to Mulberry or Ralph Lauren. Since there was a Ralph Lauren store at Isetan, I checked that out first. Numerous leather goods were on display. Took one with a pony embossed on the bottom right corner of the outside, it cost $190, in my budget. Unfortunately, the 2 pieces available had distinct scratches on them, and I thus rejected both of them. Found another piece, which was exactly the same, just that the embossed pony was on the inside, at $129. A great bargain for a Ralph Lauren entry leather piece, I immediately bought it, and with the additional 10% off promotion that Ralph Lauren is having now, I paid a cool $116.10. Without further ado, here are the pics:

Right: Green and brown leather complements each other in this wallet

My new addition alongside my other wallets. Clockwise from top: Ralph Lauren 6CC slots brown billfold, Jack Spade Industrial Dipped Key and Card Pouch, Bottega Veneta 8CC Ebano billfold
Never the kind that buys luxury goods that scream the brand's name or logo, I believe this is a nice addition to my collection. Not all may agree, as one man's meat is another's poison. I like how the brand name and logo are subtly placed on the inside of the wallet. What bought me over was the colour of the leather in the bill compartment. It was a luscious green that complemented well with the brown. It was as though the billfold was an illustration of the scene at the polo field, where these 2 colours (brown for the horse's skin colour, while green for the grass) could be seen, a match made in Polo heaven. It was what seperated it from any normal single-coloured basic wallet.
As I did not have time, and had already made a purchase, I did not take a trip down to Mulberry. Hopefully, I would not regret it!
Price:$116.10 after 10% discount. The 10% discount is storewide. Although it is just 10%, it's worth taking a look!
Location: Ralph Lauren @ Isetan Scotts Level 1
i love the jack spade, not really a fan of leather billfold wallets, been using a simple Nike Canvas wallet since my uni days and have stuck to it :o)
ReplyDeletehaha canvas is good, because you don't have to care for it. You can put it in your back pocket and it probably wouldn't go out of shape!
ReplyDeleteThe Jack Spade one is quirky, in a good way. You should check out their website! :)
I think you have created a great wallet collection. Jack Spade: casual. RL: upgraded interesting. Bottega Veneta: unabashed luxury!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
